You can use the spreadsheet at this location to calculate your system design requirements for your greenhouse. Instructions are included within the sheet.

Feel free to direct any subsequent questions you have back to the rest of the folks at this Forum.

The SHCS Calculator has been updated with usability edits and suggestions that higher air flow rates used in recent trails give higher total heat exchanges per day.

The SHCS page at:

http://www.sunnyjohn.com/indexpages/shcs.htm

has also been updated to reflect my original design guidelines as now being only MINIMUM air exchange levels. My original guesses have been proving to be too low wrt air tube air velocities and exchange rates (some saying by as much as 5X too low.)

The original densities of 4" ADS tubing are fine for now, but the fan plenums must be able to accommodate larger fans and larger net air flows. And another consequence of the gains from higher air exchange rates - it has become almost standard to use sub-manifold culverts as headers in parallel 4" ADS installs. The early implementation of this style of large scale GH installs has proved itself in the minds of many builders now, two this year that I am aware of as of now, one US, one Canada. The latest one is

Keep up the great work guys! We are indeed getting to the bottom of it all...
